COVID-19 Impact on Building Performance

Abstract

COVID-19 lockdown affected most of U.S. states around mid-March, since then it has had significant impact on building operation and thus building’s performance.

Yardi Pulse energy products have been monitoring and controlling building/HVAC energy usage and performance all this while. The presentation intends on providing an insight into how buildings have been responding to the reduced occupancy and operational changes.

We will be using real world examples of variety of building types across the country, showcasing the performance using actual energy data. Presentation will summarize the lessons learned, conclusions on how buildings have been performing during COVID-19 impacted period and suggest ways on how our system has been optimizing and maintaining building performance even during low load conditions.

Ankita Gupta is a Senior Energy Engineer at Yardi Systems Inc.  She has more than 7 years of energy engineering experience performing ASHRAE level energy analyses, measurement & verification, utility analyses and building energy modeling.  She has worked with state utilities on various incentive programs submitting applications, performing energy savings study and M&V.  She holds a BE in Biotechnology from Manipal Institute of Technology, India and an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Green Design from Carnegie Mellon University. She is also a Professional Engineer (PE) -Mechanical HVAC and Refrigeration and a certified energy manager (CEM).
