Sustainable Urban/Suburban Communities vis-à-vis Efficient Energy Technologies and Global Climate Change

Abstract

Many urban and suburban communities within the King County region of the State of Washington, have aggressively adopted and implemented Sustainable Development principles to implement State of the Art Energy and Global Climate Change technologies, as part of their respective Strategic Action Plans, resulting in impressive and quantifiable societal benefits as well as enhanced quality of life of their citizens – economically, environmentally and socially. These Case Studies and/or Replicable Models can easily be adapted by similar yet to be Green Communities within the USA and abroad.

Dr. Arun Jhaveri has over 35 years of Professional Work Experience in the inter-related fields of Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and Innovative Technologies. He has worked for both the Public and Private Sectors of the economy, mainly in Seattle and Puget Sound. He was the First Mayor of the newly incorporated City of Burien in the State of Washington, from 1992 to 1998. Dr. Jhaveri has been a long-time active Senior Member of the AEE, where he has been a Course Instructor, CSDP, Co-Author, and a Hall of Fame Inductee. He was the Regional Manager of the U. S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) in the Seattle Regional Office, from 1991 to 2006. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development by the Seattle University in 2006
