Graham Thorsteinson graduated at the top of his class with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Graham started his career in a newly created role as the first plant based Energy Engineer at a Fortune 500 company working with the eventual cofounder of his current company. He delivered $5.5 million in annual energy savings at one manufacturing plant (~40% reduction), and subsequently influenced executive leadership to create a new engineering team of plant based energy engineers. He then created a continuous improvement energy reduction process to focus on utility operation excellence and low capital solutions. He led this international energy engineering team to deliver $20M in additional savings over four years at 20 facilities (~20% reduction), resulting in Graham winning the highest award within the company.
Graham has trained dozens of energy engineers on utility, HVAC, and process equipment and has experience on which energy solutions work.
Graham is a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Energy Auditor. His accolades include Association of Energy Engineers’ International Young Energy Professional of the Year in 2013, Southeast Energy Professional Development and Corporate Energy Management in 2015, and Southeast Energy Manager of the Year in 2016. His work has been recognized by numerous books and journals, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the President of the United States. Additionally, he has presented at numerous major energy and water conferences.
In 2015, Graham cofounded Energy One Consulting with the vision of taking their unique experience focusing on low and no capital solutions to other mid and large sized facilities. Energy One has focused on energy reduction for large commercial and industrial facilities, including saving $4,000,000 at one of the world’s largest airports.
